Whats better? Twin stroller – ’side-by-side’ or tandem ‘front and back’ style for older child and toddler?
I need a cheap double stroller asap to walk my kids to school while my car is out of action for about 3 weeks. My 5 year old isn’t coping with walking in the heat to school and back 5 days a week.
I have looked on ebay for a cheap twin stroller/pram just to use in the interim.
There are 4 very cheap ones at the moment in my area…..between 99c and $40! Bargain lol!
1 is a side by side 3 wheeler ‘bugatti’ pram which looks to be in great condition and is listed as the cheapest at the moment (99c, only 1 bid and finishing in less than 2 days).
The other 3 prams are the tandem ‘front and back’ style and between $20-$40 with no bids yet.
When pushing an older child (20kg) and a toddler (12kg) would a side by side stroller by too heavy on one side making it hard to push?
Would a front and back stroller be better to even out the weight or does that make it harder to push? Its a half hour walk to school so I don’t want to be struggling all the way there, twice a day, 5 days a week!
Any advice appreciated!
i had a feeling the front and back would be better!
I’ve looked at the buggy boards that attach to the back of my regular single pram which my older boy would stand on while I push it but they are mostly more expensive, even second hand, and there are none really close to where I live.
The ones that attach and detach to the side of my single pram are def not an option…the seat is not big enough for a 5 year old.
whatever I end up getting will only be for the 3 weeks I don’t have a car and strictly to walk to school and back only… then its going back on ebay lol!
lol, great idea from ‘Miss’ …good in theory….except I can’t exactly drive to a store when I don’t have a car right now
Front and back by far. Its easier to steer, the toddler is less likely to be able to reach the newborn, theyre generally less bulky.
Theyre just easier all around. Plus you can get the sit and stand kind which is even nicer, since a 5 year old doesnt really need a full on seat, and you dont need the bulk of a full on seat, there’s a stand for her to standon, or sit on if she gets tired of standing.

Can anyone recommend a double jogging stroller for older kids that isn’t too expensive?
I have a 37 lb girl and a 50-55 lb autistic boy that I want to take along with me while I let my 8 year old ride her bike. Most jogging strollers I have found say 50 pounds per seat. I have never had one so I wasn’t sure if that would work or not.
thanks,
Jana
I have a jeep wagoneer (blue and black) walking carriage. It looks like a jogger but the front wheel turns or can be locked which is the difference between a walking and jogging stroller. It holds up to a 65 pound child. I am assuming that the double version is the same. It is about $140.00.
I love mine and use it walking and jogging.

Is wheel suspension necessary for strollers?
How much of a difference does wheel suspension REALLY make? I don’t have one without to compare to, but am looking into buying a new stroller that doesn’t have them. (Specifically the Maclaren Twin Triumph). We live in the city, so it would only be used on sidewalks, paved pathways, and indoors. Thank you in advance!
It’s makes the ride smoother for you child, w/o a suspension, they will feel all the bumps on the ground, with a suspension, it will be much smoother, like a car with & without a suspension. For the few extra dollars get the suspnsion one, it’s worth it.

What is the best double stroller to purchase that isn’t too expensive?
I’ve been looking at the Graco duo glider which sells for about $160. I’ve asked some mothers how they like theirs and they seem to be okay with it but not exactly thrilled with it either. Does anyone have a double stroller that they like and could recommend? I need to stay under $200. Thanks!
Schwinn makes a double stroller that is 200. If you can find a way t spend more I have the Phil and Ted and I love it. Worth every penny.
